every day I want to go on a date with you.
I want to go on a date with you every day.

every day I’m asking you something new.
here is what I’m asking about your dreams:

do you dream of living high up in the mountains?
then our date will be a picnic on a quaint grassy cliff.
it will overlook all the tiny lights in our crowded city.
we’ll look at each other and wonder if we ever felt this human,
if when we look away we’ll lose each other in the streets.

do you dream of singing from the bottom of the ocean?
then our date will be a concert in an underwater cove.
we’ll strike up the band and sing louder than we ever have,
until our lungs soar from our mouths to the surface,
and our newborn gills fill our hearts up with salt.

every day I want to go on a date with you.
I want to go on a date with you every day.

every day I’m forgetting something new.
here is what I’ve already forgotten:

the location of the quaint grassy cliff.
the location of the underwater cove.
what it means to be a human.
how loud I can scream.
when I want to go on a date with you.
